Miley Cyrus's Led Zeppelin Cover

Miley Cyrus knows how to rock it. As my point of view, she may look like a girl with several disorders on her life, but I think she is smart and she is in touch her feelings, emotions and her brain.

This time I was really surprised when I saw "Miley Cyrus's Led Zeppelin Cover". I thought it would be a complete disaster, but she proved me wrong. Miley Cyrus covered the song "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". The video is Below

The cover has her brand mark in there

Jennifer Lopez - Booty ft. Iggy Azalea - Video Review

Hi guys, well, as you know, yesterday 9/18/14 the video "Booty" from J-Lo featuring Iggy Azalea was released. You can watch it below.

I am going to give you my honest review about the video but first I want to say that I like Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea, I think that besides their beauty they do have talent for singing/rapping on their own style and genre.

I think that the song itself has lack of imagination, creativity and sense. I think it should be really boring for Iggy Azalea sing the song live. And even though I love watching Jennifer Lopez shaking her booty, I think is an insult for herself as an artist. She has done such a great work in the past and as my personal opinion, this is the worst song of hers.

On pop music I am used to "simple" bits and rhythms accompanied with easy and not fetched lyrics, but still, I insist that the song has lack of imagination.

One thing I can think of, is that, this was just a fun project that wasn't really meant for anything special.

Today 29 Years Ago

Sep/19/1985
Tipper Gore and other political wives form the Parents Music Resource Center as Frank Zappa and other musicians testify at U.S. Congressional hearings on obscenity in rock music.

Tipper Gore
She became well known for her role in the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), criticizing music with profane language and promoting Parental Advisory stickers (nicknamed "Tipper Stickers") on record covers, especially in the heavy metal, punk and hip hop genres. Gore explained that her purpose wasn't to put a "gag" on music but, to keep it safe for younger listeners.

Parents Music Resource Center
The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was an American committee formed in 1985 with the stated goal of increasing parental control over the access of children to music deemed to be violent, have drug use or be sexual via labeling albums with Parental Advisory stickers

As a method of combating this alleged problem, the PMRC suggested a voluntary move by the RIAA and the music industry to develop "guidelines and/or a rating system" similar to the MPAA film rating system. Additional suggestions from the PMRC that appeared in an article in the Washington Post included: printing warnings and lyrics on album covers, forcing record stores to put albums with explicit covers under the counters, pressuring television stations not to broadcast explicit songs or videos, reassessing the contracts of musicians who performed violently or sexually in concert, and creating a panel to set industry standards.

This article led to the removal of rock music and magazines from American stores including Wal-Mart, J. C. Penney, Sears and Fred Meyer.

On November 1, 1985, before the hearing ended, the RIAA agreed to put "Parental Advisory" labels on selected releases at their own discretion. The labels were generic, unlike the original idea of a descriptive label categorizing the explicit lyrics.

Better than Beats (Audio)

You've heard about Beats by Dr. Dre, and Bose headphones, and maybe you think they're pretty good. Well those famous brands had better watch their backs, according to Consumer Reports Magazine, because headphones by Grado Labs out of Brooklyn NY are better than both of them.

Named the top-rated headphone model, the $300 Grado 325 was deemed superior to any of the models made by Beats or Bose. At any price. In June, Grado released an update to the model, called the 325e, which delivers even more bang for your buck.

These are headphones for serious listening, not for commuting.
The 325e model is said to have "Less bling, more zing", a comment Consumer Reports found to be right on target. Like our Portable Bluetooth Speaker.

"I don't especially care what my headphones look like" the reviewer says. "I can't see them while I'm wearing them, and I'm not counting on headphones to enhance my admittedly low social status. But I do want them to sound good, and in this area the 325 headphones excel, providing excellent overall sound, with a neutral to cool character".

There's plenty more technical information on the Grado Labs website.

Jimi Hendrix

In a day like this, 44 years ago, James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix, born in November 27, 1942. Time to listen to Purple Haze on your portable Bluetooth speaker.

Passed away around 11 a.m., Hendrix was found breathing, but unconscious and unresponsive.  Paramedics then transported Hendrix to St Mary Abbot's Hospital where Dr. John Bannister pronounced him dead at 12:45 p.m. on September 18, 1970.

In March 1964, Hendrix recorded the two-part single "Testify" with the Isley Brothers. Released in June, it failed to chart.[63] In May, he provided guitar instrumentation for the Don Covay song, "Mercy Mercy". Issued in August by Rosemart Records and distributed by Atlantic, the track reached number 35 on the Billboard chart.

In July 1965, on Nashville's Channel 5 Night Train, Hendrix made his first television appearance. Performing in Little Richard's ensemble band, he backed up vocalists Buddy and Stacy on "Shotgun". The video recording of the show marks the earliest known footage of Hendrix performing. Richard and Hendrix often clashed over tardiness, wardrobe, and Hendrix's stage antics, and in late July, Richard's brother Robert fired him.

Hendrix's music has received a number of Hall of Fame Grammy awards, starting with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992, followed by two Grammys in 1999 for his albums Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland; Axis: Bold as Love received a Grammy in 2006. In 2000, he received a Hall of Fame Grammy award for his original composition, "Purple Haze", and in 2001 for his recording of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower". Hendrix's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" was honored with a Grammy in 2009.

Mathematics in Music

“The mind counting without being conscious that it is counting.” That’s how the the philosopher Leibniz described listening to music.

Cognitive scientists have become very interested in the ways the brain grasps musical patterns. It turns out there are overlaps between musical and linguistic and mathematical ability, which have spawned all kinds of theories about how music arose in prehistory.

Also maths has changed in recent times. It’s no longer just about numbers. It’s about groups and symmetries and chaos and complexity. Mathematicians are in search of patterns, and music is all about pattern-making.

The Greek-French composer Iannis Xenakis conjured sounds out of Bernouilli’s equations, and Brownian motion.

All this was revealed in a brilliant lecture on music and symmetry, given by Marcus de Sautoy as part of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s Interplay series. Symmetry is something music has at the very basic level of sound.

"Look at the make-up of a single sound on a 3-d oscilloscope, and you find the more pure and beautiful the sound, the more symmetry it has. The purest sound of all is a sine wave, and that looks like a circle. And a circle has infinite axes of symmetry."

Why do we choose one rather than another? Because it captivates us, for a reason we can’t quite define. It may because in some way the progression bends the rules, or actually breaks them. Bach broke the rules quite often, but that doesn’t mean we lesser mortals can do it (as I was often reminded as a student, after handing in a ham-fisted chorale harmonisation). If we could define the thing that gives that special x factor to harmonic progressions, we could produce them to order, or get a computer to do it.

There’s a need to find a pattern with that extra something that is used also when composing music, because a perfect pattern on music is boring, which opens the door to a new world.

Game of Thrones - Song Cover by Jackie Evancho

The 14-year-old Ms. Evancho says she's too young to watch "Game of Thrones," but her record label suggested "The Rains of Castamere," and she decided to record it because she liked the song and her mother has watched the show.

Crossover singer Jackie Evancho has never seen an episode of "Game of Thrones," but that hasn't stopped her from singing about the show.

Ms. Evancho's new album "Awakening," due out Sept. 23, features "The Rains of Castamere," a song co-written by "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin.

Ms. Evancho, who rose to fame in 2010 with her performances of operatic arias on "America's Got Talent," is seeking to branch out stylistically on her new album, which features original songs as well as a cover of "With or Without You" by the Irish rock band U2. Lyrics:
And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

This is the video of the performance:

And this one is the original we heard in the "Red Wedding" episode.
